WELLNESS EXAMS
Every cat or kitten who is a part of our “forever home” is entitled to medical care. Our goal is to get them healthy and happy, and keep them healthy and happy. But it’s more than physical health: it’s emotional health as well. We’re dedicated to creating a happy environment, full of fun and frolic, exploration and plenty of ways for every cat and kitty to exercise their curiosity and wonderment.
Wellness begins with a great diet and exercise program. Animal Rescue Foundation offers both.
VACCINATIONS
We believe in the Rabies vaccination for every cat and kitty because Rabies is a serious, life-threatening disease. If it is medically called for, we do administer other vaccinations as needed. We have tested every cat and kitty for feline leukemia, another deadly disease that attacks the feline population.
SPAY/NEUTER
It’s a well-known medical fact that spaying and neutering prevents many medical problems in male and female cats as they get older, and nationally-known veterinarians and cat behaviorists such as Dr. Jan Pol (“The Incredible Dr. Pol”), Dr. Jeff Young (“Dr. Jeff: Rocky Mountain Clinic”) and Jackson Galaxy (“My Cat From Hell”) all believe in spaying/neutering cats and kittens.
GROOMING
Some of the cats and kittens in Animal Rescue Foundation need professional grooming for two reasons: either they are long-haired felines whose fur easily mats against their skin and needs to be controlled, or they have issues grooming themselves or have special needs (e.g., dry skin, allergies). There are also some cats and kittens who have unusually long nails, so grooming services can trim those nails to a healthier length. At Animal Rescue Foundation, we care about the grooming requirements of our cats and kittens.
EMERGENCY CARE
Animal Rescue Foundation has relationships with veterinary clinics in our community as well as with animal hospitals. Animals are notorious for hiding illnesses, part of their pack mentality of preventing predators from preying on the weak, so we occasionally see a cat or kitten whose health issue suddenly manifests. In those cases, we’re prepared to take our cats and kittens to emergency care where they will receive the best life-saving treatment available.
DENTAL CARE
Poor dental health can lead to overall poor health in felines, so we pay attention to good nutrition and good dental health.
HOUSING
Animal Rescue Foundation provides a “forever home” for feral cats and kittens.
FLEA MEDICATION/DE-WORMING
Animal Rescue Foundation provides flea medication and, when necessary, de-worming for its cats and kittens.
OUR
FACILITY
Animal Rescue Foundation provides each cat and kitten a “forever” home, including its famous “Catio,” an outdoor, fully fenced/roofed, enclosed area with 30 shelves made of Trex and fresh sod that is put down several times a year so that each kitty paw can feel the soft, green grass. Day or night, 365 days/year, cats and kittens can enjoy the Catio.
Cats and kittens can sit on one of 30 shelves made of Trex, built at varying heights, and enjoy a peaceful day in the sun, or jump to the bottom to feel the plush grass beneath their paws. Some cats sit on the shelves during thunderstorms and listen to the rain hit the roof.
Two bridges connect the building to the outdoor Catio. Cats and kittens can enjoy the Catio, day or night, 365 days/year. Of course, in icy snow conditions, cats and kittens choose to stay indoors, or sleep in the bridges!
